Is there a dictionary??&#8221; &#8211; And didn&#8217;t find one&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Anyway, my first thought was that it is necessary to know the terminology in order to communicate and understand what other people talk about.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Therefore<\/span> I joined a trading chat room<b>.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Frankly, I joined a lot of trading chat rooms. I wandered from one to the other trying to understand what these people are telling at all. I was not able to understand any of their conversations. The people inside were using jargons and terminologies that I had not ever heard in my life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And it is completely true! If you are new to <a href=\"https:\/\/traders-paradise.com\/magazine\/2018\/06\/financial-freedom-viva-la-crypto\/\">Bitcoin<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/traders-paradise.com\/magazine\/2018\/11\/cryptocurrency-market\/\">cryptocurrencies<\/a>, you may not know what any of these words mean.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You recognize this situation, do you?<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_misspellings_are_not_as_you_might_think\"><\/span><strong>The misspellings are not as you might think<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You must have noticed people misspelling <\/span><b>\u201cHOLD\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as <\/span><b>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/traders-paradise.com\/trading-dictionary\/h\/hodl\/\">HODL<\/a>\u201d <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">even when they have an auto-correct feature on their phones or computers. Have you?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This was my first unknown word. Like I heard for the first time in my life word <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urbandictionary.com\/define.php?term=nukelar\"><i>NUKELAR <\/i><\/a>instead of\u00a0<i>NUCLEAR<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">OK, I was laughing then, but crypto is a serious field. Hence, I took it as a <a href=\"https:\/\/traders-paradise.com\/magazine\/2018\/06\/freedom-utopia\/\">serious field<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The point is that in these crypto communities, offline or online, a new breed of lingo has developed. If you don&#8217;t know these jargons, you might feel left out and more than a bit puzzled.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Honestly, I was.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That&#8217;s why I want to get to know you with these new words and clarify their meaning.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"HODL_wtf\"><\/span><strong>HODL (wtf)<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I read the sentence <\/span><b>\u201cI AM HODLING\u201d <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on some forum.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-808\" src=\"http:\/\/traders-paradise.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/I-am-hodling-orig-pic-2-e1529754415218.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"791\" height=\"306\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Well, what happened to this man, I don&#8217;t know. Maybe he was angry that the price of Bitcoin had fallen, I do not know. Maybe he was drunk too. But since then, \u00a0this misspelled term became very popular in the Bitcoin and cryptocurrency world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Basically, \u201c<\/span><b>HODL<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d was originally a typo which has now popularly earned the status of a humorous backronym:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%E2%80%9CHODL%E2%80%9D_%E2%80%93_%E2%80%9CHold_on_for_dear_life%E2%80%9D\"><\/span><b>\u201cHODL\u201d \u2013 \u201cHold on for dear life\u201d<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When someone says that he\/she is <\/span><b><i>hodling<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">or suggests to<\/span> <b><i>hodl<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, it means that they believe their coin will be profitable one day, even if is not today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And you&#8217;ve probably seen some other jargon that you don\u2019t know the meaning. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Small_crypto_dictionary_for_some_common_crypto-terms\"><\/span><strong>Small crypto dictionary for some common crypto-terms:<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><b>* FOMO<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Fear of missing out. Wiki definition is &#8211; A pervasive apprehension that others might be having rewarding experiences from which one is absent.<\/span><br \/>\n<b>* BEAR <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; This means a trader\/investor who believes the prices of a particular cryptocurrency or market will fall and wants to profit from that fall.<\/span><br \/>\n<b>* ATH <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; All time high. This means that the price of a certain cryptocurrency or coin has broken all of its past records and is trading at the highest price it has ever achieved.<\/span><br \/>\n<b>* WHALE<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Term borrowed from gamblers. It means a trader with a fat account, one who thinks the market will rise on the price of any specific cryptocurrency. These people are also referred to as bullish whales.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>* BEARWHALE<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Trader with a fat account who is bearish on the price of a cryptocurrency.<\/span><br \/>\n<b>* BAGHODLER<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Investor or a trader who has been holding (or <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hodling<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) for too long on a particular cryptocurrency and now has to face the consequences of that decision.<\/span><br \/>\n<b>* REKT<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Misspelling of \u201cwrecked\u201d. This means a trader or investor who is completely ruined and destroyed with losses from the current downfall of a price.<\/span><br \/>\n<b>* TO THE MOON<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; The price of some coin will one day go to the moon!<\/span><br \/>\n<b>* ADDY<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Cryptocurrency public address (or key). <\/span><b>For example<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tell me your ADDY<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<b>* FUD<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Fear, uncertainty, and doubt.<\/span><br \/>\n<b>* CHOYNA<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; A intentionally distorted way of referring to China.<\/span><br \/>\n<b>* SHITCOIN<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; A coin with no potential value<\/span><br \/>\n<b>* SHORT<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Margin bear position<\/span><br \/>\n<b>* LONG<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Margin bull position<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Strange_terms_in_the_crypto_dictionary\"><\/span><strong>Strange terms in the crypto dictionary<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><b>* SWING<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Zig-zag price movement (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ups and downs<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span><br \/>\n<b>* REVERSE INDICATOR<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; someone who never nail price movements, always wrong predictions<\/span><br \/>\n<b>* PUMP <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Upward price movement<\/span><br \/>\n<b>* DUMPING<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Downward price movement<\/span><br \/>\n<b>* OTC<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Over the counter<\/span><br \/>\n<b>* DUMP <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; To sell off a coin<\/span><br \/>\n<b>* BTFD<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Buy The Fucking Dip (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">meaning buy a coin when it has dumped so hard<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span><br \/>\n<b>* ASHDRAKED<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; \u00a0A situation where someone lost all money<\/span><br \/>\n<b>* DILDO<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Long green or red candles on graphics<\/span><br \/>\n<b>* ALTCOIN<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Any cryptocurrency which is not Bitcoin<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are some of the jargon I&#8217;ve found on forums and chat rooms.
