M0, M1, M2, M3, M4 represent<\/span> different measures of money supply. Not all of them are widely used and the exact classifications depend on the country. <\/span><\/p>\n M0 and M1, also called narrow money, normally include coins and notes in circulation and other money equivalents that are easily convertible into cash. <\/span><\/p>\n M2 includes M1 plus short-term time deposits in banks and 24-hour money market funds. <\/span><\/p>\n M3 includes M2 plus longer-term time deposits and money market funds with more than 24-hour maturity. <\/span><\/p>\n The exact definitions of the three measures depend on the country. <\/span><\/p>\n M0<\/span> is a material currency (cash itself). All notes, coins, and bearer certificates convertible on demand (which includes, by definition, depositor reserves of banks which must be kept in physical cash).<\/span><\/p>\n M1 is the money supply that includes physical currency and coin. Also, demand deposits, traveler’s checks, other checkable deposits and negotiable order of withdrawal accounts.
